Optimistic Resilient Teens

The ORTeens Program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at fostering resilience and optimism in Year 9 and Year 10 students through a series of hands-on activities and reflective exercises. (Note: A more advanced and tailored program is available upon request for Grade 11 and 12 students)

The inclusion of the STORM App personal inspiration journal is a strategic touch that provides a personalised lifelong and evolving framework for the participants.

What is the ORTeens Program?

ORTeens and the STORM App have been carefully created as partnership between Riverlife Adventure Centre, Vertigo Brisbane Powerhouse & Sporting Wheelies.  The hands-on adventure activities within ORTeens and the STORM App are designed to complement the Year 9 and 10 Australian Curriculum, promoting Personal and Social Capability through resilience-building challenges and Health and Physical Education by emphasizing the benefits of physical and mental well-being. 

The program Introduces a series of physical resilience activities where students step out of their comfort zone, adapt to change, and thrive in the face of adversity. This is a proactive and intentional approach to building optimistic resilience.

ORTeens is jam packed with activities that equip the participants with the tools and the mindset needed to face life's uncertainties with courage, flexibility, and the self-belief to overcome obstacles.

Students take away their own personal “Optimistic Resilience Plan” (STORM App - my personal inspiration journal) This is not a one-size-fits-all approach; rather, it is a personalized and evolving strategy that incorporates positive psychological principles to enhance an individual's ability to face life's challenges with hope, adaptability, and a growth-oriented mindset. STORM is an endlessly improving game plan for life, students prepare to navigate life's storms with the sails of optimism and resilience, steering towards brighter horizons.
